Influencer, Mandy Madden Kelley, CEO and founder of Pagerie, was severely rattled after being the target of a home invasion in Los Angeles county on Monday evening, January 24th.
Originally from New Zealand with her career path geared toward law, Mandy made the shift to move to Los Angeles 7 years ago to pursue a dream in building her own personal brand, and curating a style and design that encompassed and was purely her vision.
Mandy’s brand, Pagerie, is a company that offers opulent, luxurious fashion for pets. The line of luxury designs can be found at Neiman Marcus, Harrod’s and Bergdorf Goodman.
With a social media platform, the influencer has a large audience to which she can share and show her life, style and brand.
Regarding the home invasion, Mandy expressed, “I can’t sleep at night anymore because I’m so scared. I feel like I have to be listening at all times to make sure I protect my family.”
Mandy recalled the Monday evening incident. It was just like any other night – the family was tucked in, nestled all snug in their beds. However, they never realized that this night could be one filled with dread. “The alarm went off,” the influencer recounted, as they heard someone moving around in their backyard.
As it turned out, a man was breaking into their home office where he rifled through Kelley’s documents and taxes, taking photos and stealing the influencer’s sensitive information. Mandy and her husband called the police, to which the authorities suggested they hang tight and refrain from going after the man themselves, as the intruder had the potential of being armed.
Before the police could come, the man made his getaway, but the fear of lack of safety and security lingered.
Is this the price one pays for Fame and influence?
An extremely unfortunate and scary incident to occur; however, with a large platform, everything comes flooding in – the good, the bad and the ugly. If anything, this incident created awareness. We hope that the situation improves for Mandy and her family.
However, the question remains, is the Fame worth the pain?
