Amanda Bynes is officially free from her conservatorship, giving her full control of her financial, medical, and personal decisions.
The 35-year-old actress is no longer under adult guardianship as of Tuesday, March 22.
Earlier this month, Amanda Bynes submitted a request to terminate her conservatorship, which her mother, Lynn Bynes, supported, according to documents obtained by Us Weekly.
Bynes was temporarily placed under a conservatorship in August 2013 after mental health and substance abuse problems. A year later, Lynn was named the conservator of her daughter’s health and personal matters. In 2018, a judge ruled to extend the conservatorship till August 2020.
In August 2021, the conservatorship of her estate was terminated, but her health and personal matters were still under the legal control of her mother, Lynn.
The She’s The Man actress petitioned to end the conservatorship on February 23 while filing a mental capacity declaration stating she is mentally sound to care for herself.
Amanda’s psychiatrist says the star has “no apparent impairment in alertness and attention, information and processing or ability to modulate mood and affect and suffers no thought disorders.”
Bynes stated she “desires to live free of any constraint” in her filing.
A source told Us Weekly, “She’s doing great both physically and mentally. It’s beyond gratifying to know her parents, and of course, Michael (her fiance) are by her side.”
The Nickelodeon star recently created an Instagram to share updates with her fans.
