Pierrick Jamaux, the 33-year-old cryptocurrency expert, was shot multiple times in the legs and groin during an attempted robbery.
The French-born guru told police he exited an Uber when a man demanded his six-figure Richard Mille watch. The incident happened outside of his midtown hotel Friday morning.
Jamaux was with his wife, Sarah Watts, and another woman when returning to Fifty Hotel and Suites after visiting the Sapphire 39 strip club.
Upon being shot, Jamaux fell to the ground, and his attacker bent down to try and take the watch off his wrist. The woman with the couple jumped onto the gunman’s back, which caused him to flee the scene.
According to sources, five shell casings were recovered at the scene after Jamaux was taken to Bellevue Hospital with multiple entry and exit wounds to both legs.
The suspect is still at large, but sources say he could be seen in the surveillance video going into a vestibule, changing into lightly colored clothes, and then disposing of a dark bundle in a trash can. Another individual is seen picking the bundle out of the trash several minutes later.
