Shocking text messages have been revealed in the court battle between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard.
On Wednesday, Depp’s friend Isaac Baruch took the witness stand to support the actor in his defamation suit again ex-wife Amber Heard.
During the cross-examination by Heard’s lawyer Elaine Bredehoft, shocking text messages were revealed from an October 2016 conversation between Depp and Baruch, including one specific message where Depp referred to Heard’s “rotting corpse.”
The text message said that he hoped Heard’s “rotting corpse is decomposing in the f—–g trunk of a Honda Civic.”
Baruch confirmed this to be accurate, saying, “Yeah, it was written.”
Another revealed text message showed Depp saying, “That c— ruined such a f—–g cool life we had for a while.”
Baruch stood by Depp during the cross-examination and became emotional on the stand. “It’s not fair. It’s not right what she did and what happened for so many people to get affected from this. It’s insane how this happened.”
Heard’s lawyer also asked Baruch if he knew whether Johnny Depp had ever committed domestic violence. Baruch answered, saying, “I never saw or witnessed whatever type of claim that is being said. Ever.”
Depp, 58, is suing Heard, 35, for defamation over a 2018 article she wrote for the Washington Post about surviving domestic violence. Depp initially filed the $50 million lawsuit in March 2019, but due to the pandemic, it was postponed.
On Saturday, Heard went to Instagram to say she would be taking time off social media for the duration of the trial.
“I’m going to go offline for the next several weeks. As you may know, I’ll be in Virginia, where I face my ex-husband Johnny Depp in court. Johnny is suing me for an op-ed I wrote in the Washington Post, in which I recounted my experience of violence and domestic abuse. I continue to pay that price, but hopefully, when this case concludes, I can move on, and so can Johnny. I have always maintained a love for Johnny, and it brings me great pain to have to live out the details of our past life together in front of the world.”
