Britney Spears went to Instagram to announce her pregnancy with fiancé Sam Asghari. As the news broke that they were expecting their first child, ex-husband Kevin Federline issued a statement giving the couple his blessing.
“Kevin is aware of the recent posting by Britney regarding her announced pregnancy and wishes her a happy and healthy pregnancy, and congratulates her and Sam Asghari as they go through the excitement of planning parenthood together.” Kevin’s attorney Mark Kaplan said in the statement.
Britney and Kevin married in September 2004 after five months of dating. In September 2006, Spears filed for divorce. The ex-couple share two sons, Sean Preston, 16, and Jayden, 15.
In her announcement on April 11, Britney explained that she thought she had a food baby during the couple’s vacation in Hawaii, but it turned out to be a real baby.
Britney has been clear about wanting more children, although she also spoke out against her conservatorship not allowing her to reproduce, stating, “I want to be able to get married and have a baby. I was told right now in the conservatorship, I am not able to get married or have a baby. I have an [IUD] inside of myself, so I don’t get pregnant. They don’t want me to have children.”
She added, “I deserve to have the same rights as anybody does by having a child, a family, any of those things.”
