Lady Gaga Helps Liza Minnelli Present the Best Picture Award in a Touching Moment: “I got you.”

Lady Gaga is being praised for how she helped Liza Minnelli presents the 94th annual Academy Award’s biggest prize on Sunday.

Lady Gaga, 36, came out on stage with Minelli, 76, when the crowd began to cheer. Gaga held Minnelli’s hand and said, “Do you see that? The public, they love you.”

Gaga started it off with, “You know how I love working with legends, and I’m honored to present the final award of the evening with a true show business legend. She’s celebrating the 50th anniversary of Cabaret. Oscar-winning actress, Liza Minnelli.”

Minnelli shuffled her note cards, and she said, “I don’t understand.” Then she began to speak, “Throughout the night, we’ve seen highlights of the ten best … you know … nominated for best picture awards. Now we’re gonna do something else. And then we’re gonna tell you who it is.”

Lady Gaga jumped in, “We’re gonna see who the nominees are right now,” Minnelli excitedly said, “Oh good!”

Gaga then whispered to her, “I got you.”

Minnelli said back to her, “I know, thank you.”

According to Minnelli’s former publicist Scott Gorenstein, “Lady Gaga requested that Liza present the award with her.”

When the nominees for Best Picture were finished being announced, Liza said, “Hi everybody! I’m so happy to be here, especially with you. I’m your biggest fan.”

Finally, time to announce the winner. Gaga started it off with, “And the Oscar goes to.” She then opened the envelope for Minnelli, who sounded surprised as she said, “Oh! CODA.”
