Meghan Markle Thanks Simon Rex for Turning Down Bribe to Lie About Them Dating

Allegedly, Simon Rex was bribed to fabricate a lie that Meghan Markle and himself were dating.

In an interview with The Guardian, Rex said the U.K. press approached him to fabricate a relationship with the Duchess of Sussex. He says, “I was broke as f––k! I really needed the money. But I’ll be on food stamps before I do that.”

Rex later received a thank you letter from Markle that read, “It’s nice to know there are still good people.”

While filming a TV show, the two actors had previously met and shared lunch. That was the extent of their relationship. “Nothing happened. We never even kissed,” Rex told the Hollywood Raw. “It was just, like, we hung out once in a very non-datey way.”

Rex reportedly turned down $70,000 because he didn’t want to lie, especially when it had to do with the royal family.

Meghan has been the subject of many false rumors since she started dating Prince Harry in 2016. The couple married in 2018 and stepped down from their royal duties two years later.

She opened up about her mental health after the press began targeting her. “I just didn’t see a solution. I would sit up at night, and I was just, like, I don’t understand how all of this is being churned out,” she said in March 2021 during the couple’s CBS interview. “I realized that it was all happening just because I was breathing. I was really ashamed to say it at the time and ashamed to have to admit it to Harry, especially because I know how much loss he’s suffered. I just didn’t want to be alive anymore. And that was a very clear and real and frightening constant thought.”
