Sarah Jessica Parker opened up about her beef with Kim Cattral, stating comments her costar made about her were “very painful.” Parker expressed the conflicted relationship that started in the 90s on the Awards Chatter podcast this week.
“There just isn’t anyone else who’s ever talked about me this way, so it’s very painful.”
Cattrall has previously called the relationship with her Sex and the City costars “toxic.”
In 2017, the toxicity of their relationship became public after the third Sex and the City movie “fell apart.”
“They didn’t feel comfortable meeting where she wanted to meet, and so we didn’t do the movie because we didn’t want to do it without Kim,” She explained.
“And then there were just a lot of public conversations about how she felt about the show,” Parker said before expressing that is the reason she wasn’t a part of the new HBO Max show And Just Like That…
“That’s not ‘slamming’ her, it’s just learning. You’ve got to listen to somebody, and if they’re publicly talking about something and it doesn’t suggest it’s someplace they want to be, or a person they want to play, or an environment in which they want to be, you get to an age where you’re like, ‘Well, we hear that.'”
Parker clarified, “we have such affection for Samantha. But we felt comfortable moving on without her and without that part because we knew what Michael [Patrick King] wanted to do. And we thought he handled it beautifully.”
