Will Smith’s New Movie Delayed After Oscar’s Slap

Will Smith has had multiple projects pushed back after he slapped Chris Rock at the Oscars in March.

His upcoming movie Emancipation will most likely be yet another project delayed. The movie will now likely premiere in 2023.

The release date has yet to be announced, but it was expected to release in 2022.

An unnamed source told Variety, “it’s the unspoken truth” that the movie would be pushed back to 2023.

In addition to his movie Emancipation, the production of Will Smith’s National Geographic series Pole to Pole was delayed until fall.

Netflix also delayed the development of another one of Smith’s upcoming films, Fast and Loose, while the Bad Boys 4 production has been paused.

Since the incident, Will Smith has resigned from the Academy. He will no longer be able to vote for Oscar nominees or attend events produced by The Academy of Mother Pictures Arts and Sciences until 2032.
