AMC Theaters now accepts payment in Dogecoin, Shiba Inu, and other cryptocurrencies. You can now buy tickets and concessions via their online app using crypto, its CEO Adam Aron announced via Twitter on Friday.
The company is using a Bitpay integration to accept crypto payments. You would make your selections on the app and select Bitpay for your payment method. As long as your crypto wallet is connected, you can quickly complete the purchase.
Bitpay supports other cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin and Ethereum, but AMC already began accepting those payments in November through PayPal.
AMC is a leader among movie theater chains in accepting cryptocurrency as payment. In September, the CEO posted a Twitter poll asking fans if the company should accept cryptocurrency as payment. With other 100,000 votes, 77% said yes, while only 23% thought it was a bad idea.
