Movies and entertainment are headed towards the blockchain.
On Tuesday, Jason Kilar, CEO of WarnerMedia, announced that he was resigning after the company’s merger with Discovery was completed.
Before leaving, he said he believes that the blockchain is the future of Hollywood.
Although he’s leaving, Kilar is not planning on retiring. “I have no intention of retiring. As for where you may find me, it’s in the construction. Because I enjoy building at the end of the day, it will almost certainly be at the intersection of storytelling, technology, and blockchain.”
Kilar has had a fantastic career with his hands in Silicon Valley and Hollywood. He recently spoke about how he believes blockchain technology is transforming the entertainment industry, specifically in the area of NFTs.
In his interview with Reuters, he said, “I think that’s going to be a potential wave that’s going to be coming to Hollywood, in the same way, that the DVD wave came to Hollywood in the ’90s.”
According to Kilar, blockchain technology can create new forms of funding and change technology in the process. “Looking around a digital corner,” Kilar explained, “the blockchain will have a tangible impact on Hollywood and its possible collaborators.”
