Meta Plans To Integrate NFTs With Instagram And Facebook

Meta has partnered with Polygon to allow creators and collectors to share their Polygon-based NFTs on Instagram.

With NFTs rising in popularity, Meta decided to join the Web3 ecosystem to create a place for Instagram users to create and sell digital collectibles.

As of now, Instagram plans to incorporate NFTs from Ethereum, Polygon, Flow, and Solana, which means that Bored Ape, an Ethereum-powered NFT, will be available on the platform.

During an interview with Tom Bilyeu on Impact Theory on Monday, May 9, Mark Zuckerberg talked about the future of NFTs.

“We’re starting building for NFTs in our Reality Labs work, but also across our family of Apps. We are starting to test digital collectibles on Instagram so that creators and collectors can display their NFTs,” Zuckerberg said.

Zuckerberg also announced Facebook would integrate augmented reality and NFTs.

“We are also going to work on Augmented Reality NFTs, basically 3D NFTs, that you can bring to Instagram stories using Spark AR, that’s our software AR platform. So you can put this kind of digital art into 3D spaces and kind of project it into physical spaces as well,” he said.
