Lady Gaga says goodbye to Patrizia Reggiani at the New York Film Critics Circle Awards

Lady Gaga spent most of 2021 learning everything about Patrizia Reggiani, the woman who hired a hitman to kill her husband, Maurizio Gucci. Although the film premiered in theaters last year, Gaga was holding onto the role –– that is, until Wednesday at the New York Film Critic Circle Awards. She says, “it’s hard to say goodbye to art” because it helps you learn so much about yourself.

Lady Gaga was awarded the honor of Best Actress for her role as Patrizia Reggiani in House of Gucci. “These women taught me how to have big feelings in a man’s world and that having big feelings is beautiful,” she said during her 13-minute acceptance speech.

She was fighting back the tears but continued with, “And having big feelings also, to a lot of the world, people think it’s really ugly. And they think women with big feelings are ugly. But it’s not ugly. It’s just real. And for me it’s Italian. It’s who we are. We’re hard work and big feelings… And also meatballs.”

After her speech, the director spoke while applause continued, “Lady Gaga is not in ‘House of Gucci.’ Lady Gaga is ‘House of Gucci.”

The star showed up in a strapless black gown by Jason Wu paired with a classic updo for a truly timeless look. The world will be impatiently waiting for what Gaga has in store for Hollywood next.
