TikTok star Sienna Mae Gomez boasts 13 million followers on the social media platform. In 2021, she came under scrutiny after being accused of assaulting TikToker Jack Wright.
In January 2022, Wright went to YouTube to share his story in a video titled ‘What Sienna Mae did to me.’ He accused the TikTok star of several incidences of inappropriate behavior. Since that video came out, Gomez lost over a million followers.
Gomez responded to Wright by saying, “As someone I loved and still love, I’m devastated that he made me sound crazy and twisted so many things out of context in his most recent video, to the point of literally painting me into the ‘loud, crazy, overly sexualized stereotype that people try to use on young, especially Latina, women.”
On May 28, Sienna Mae returned to TikTok. The video she shared starts with, “this video was brought to you by cancel culture.” She went on to lip-sync “Cancel Me” by Dominic Fike.
Some social media users are put off by her message. One commentator said, “There’s a difference between ‘canceling’ someone and not supporting a literal criminal.” Another said, “Why is she joking about her being canceled about something serious?”
