Charli D’Amelio has been the number one TikTok influencer for a couple of years, with 141.8 million followers. On March 25, 2020, D’Amelio took the top spot, replacing Loren Gray. Now a new influencer is gearing up to surpass D’Amelio.
Comedian Khabane Lame, also known as Khaby Lame, produces parody videos mocking other content creators by recreating and exaggerating their TikToks. With very minimal speaking in his videos, it’s impressive that he now is only one million followers behind D’Amelio.
With 140.8 million followers, the 22-year-old is growing rapidly. Lame has garnered 3 million followers in the last month alone, with D’Amelio only gaining 1 million in the past month. This means Lame could take over by July.
As Lame has been nearing the top, fans have been pushing for him to get there with a new viral hashtag, #KhabyToNumberOne.
He says, “It’s my face and my expressions which make people laugh,” adding that facial expressions are a universal language.
