Netflix is promoting its take on the Marilyn Monroe story through the upcoming film, Blonde, written and directed by Andrew Dominik.
The film will be based on the fictional novel Blonde by Joyce Carol Oates and star Ana de Armas as Monroe. It will follow the story of Marilyn’s life from childhood to FAME.
Netflix released the one-minute trailer on Thursday, June 16, featuring Monroe’s hit song Diamonds Are A Girl’s Best Friend.
Ana de Armas discusses Andrew Dominik’s creative goals in a new interview.
“He wanted the world to experience what it actually felt like to not only be Marilyn, but also Norma Jeane. I found that to be the most daring, unapologetic and feminist take on her story that I had ever seen.”
She added, “There are moments when we are inside of her body and mind, and this will give the audience an opportunity to experience what it was like to be Norma and Marilyn at the same time.”
The movie, set to release on Netflix on September 23, is produced by Brad Pitt, among others, with an all-star cast featuring Adrien Brody, Bobby Cannavale, and Evan Williams.
